形態特徵

• Scandent, rarely self-supporting shrubs ca. 1.5 cm tall; branchlets mostly hanging, without scales; thorns mostly present, recurved, to 0.7 cm long, appressed hairy.
• Leaves subcoriaceous, glabrous on both sides, but often fulvous-puberulous beneath, persistent, oblong, elongate, 5–15 cm long, 2–6 cm wide, acuminate, rarely rounded to emarginate at apex, mostly with acute-mucronate tip, acutish to rounded or rarely subcordate at base, margin often recurved, midrib sunken above, rarely flat, lateral veins 6–10 pairs, hardly visible; petioles 0.75–1.5 cm long.
• Flowers 5, in submbels, mostly axillary, or rarely terminal; pedicel 1.5–2.7 cm long, glabrous, sometimes with a pair of distinct thorns at base, scales small, narrow, hairy, petals white, yellowish-white, pink or red, rarely tinged with pale green outside, caducous; sepals 0.6–0.7 cm long, 0.5 cm wide, margins membranaceous, glabrous, outer pair herbaceous, inner pair flattened and thinner, rarely minutely ciliate, free in bud; petals obovate 0.8–1.1 cm long, 4–6 mm wide, hairy at base, especially so inside; stamens 20(–40), 2–3 cm long; gynophore 2–4.5 cm long; ovary ellipsoid, 1–2 mm long, glabrous, placentas 3–4.
• Berries few, subglobose to globose, 2.3–3.5 cm long, 2–3.2 cm across, bluish black;Seeds 3 or more, 0.8–1.2 cm long, 0.5–1.2 cm wide.

分布

• 台灣 : in thickets and on dry calcareous rocky soils on Lanyu Is. (Botel Tobago).
• 世界 : The Philippines, Malaysia, Moluccas, Java, Sunda Is., Timor, Sulawesi (Celebes), New Guinea, and Australia.
